Gingernut Creative: a potted history

For those of you that are new to Gingernut Creative, here is a simple history lesson to get you up to speed – don’t worry, there won’t be a test afterwards!

September 2000
The Publishing House (UK) Ltd is born!

January 2001
Company commences trading from a derelict room at The Custard Factory, in Digbeth, Birmingham.

April 2001
First payment received – a cheque for £323.13!
Private education magazine ‘Go Independent’ is launched.

September 2001
Three Connexions Year 11 student organisers are published.

May 2004
New company formed to publish a local free newspaper, ‘Ads&Info’, which is later renamed ‘Birmingham Independent’.

September 2004
The number of Connexions Year 11 publications produced now reaches 34.

September 2006
Formal split from business partner, severing all ties with Birmingham Independent.

October 2006
‘Food 4 Sport’ publication launched in association with Birmingham City Council, promoting a healthy lifestyle and diet for children.

November 2006
Company moves to new canalside premises at The Bond, Birmingham.

March 2007
Debut issue of affordable housing magazine ‘HomeBuy’ is produced.

April 2007
Our ‘Space Trail’ promotion helps Birmingham Central Library win the Campaign For Learning’s ‘Best Families Love Libraries Event’.

June 2007
Company’s natural progression moves the business into the creative agency sphere.

September 2007
Key accounts with Primary Care Trusts across the country are created on the back of a number of highly-regarded social marketing campaigns.

November 2008
Company relocates to new environmentally-friendly premises in Marston Green.

December 2008
Company rebrands to Gingernut Creative to better reflect the ethos and direction that the company is moving in.

June 2009
Gingernut Creative exhibit at the UK National Smoking Cessation Conference in London, attracting a host of new clients.

July 2009
Havering Drug & Alcohol Action Team’s ‘Project Weekend’ is used in discussions at Whitehall as an example of a successful anti-drugs strategy.

August 2009
Launch of Somerset Primary Care Trust’s ‘CLiCKeD’ campaign, promoting smokefree homes and cars.

January 2010
‘Road To Becoming Smokefree’ campaign launches for NHS Central Lancashire, in conjunction with Pfizer.
